Doris Granberry - Director of Student Behavior Management and Support
Director of Student Behavior Management and Support
After being thrust into the role of single parent to four children ages 4-13 after 17 years of marriage, Doris had to focus on the task at hand of leading her children through the trials and challenges of growing up in the fast paced life of Miami, Florida. She focused on her own education while maintaining a degree of mental health. Doris turned to some trusted friends who provided a strong arm to lean on while she regained her balance. Her children were able to focus on their education and excelled in great ways.
This taught her that God will sometimes shake the nest in order to teach His beloved to fly. He shook her nest and provided her wings to fly. Doris is thankful to God for being her guide and most trusted advisor throughout the ordeals that followed. She felt comfortable in the backgrounds, not to draw attention to herself but wanting all the while to see her fellow sisters and brothers grow and flourish in their own journey. Doris began to provide counseling and support to others who happen to be going through, and God allowed her to stay the course.
Her passion for children grew exponentially and she began to reach out to those who were assigned to me to teach while she stayed intimately connected to my own who were involved in sports, music and clubs at their own schools. We were involved in Kory League football, basketball and baseball. We were involved in music and the intense travel involved with the chorus and the competitions included. God is good.
It was during this time that she began to get serious about my Bible Studies, she sought to learn more and more about this God who they said loved her. Doris took the resources of the Evangelical Covenant Church and tailored it to the needs of her congregation who were new to the Covenant. Rather than depending on her own strength, she learned to lean and depend of God. When she heard about the Continental Societies, Inc and that they were a group of Christian women who had a heart for the children, she accepted the invitation to join and the rest is history.
Doris believe that everything happens for a Divine reason – If we concentrate on the NOW we are not able to see the NEXT. God is preparing us for the NEXT level of greatness, productivity, support, sisterhood, happiness and love. Our challenges may be great but the NEXT is greater!
